Frequently Asked Questions
Better Bud is an online clinic that facilitates consultations with Australian-registered healthcare professionals. During a consultation, a doctor will assess your individual circumstances and determine whether a prescription is appropriate. If a prescription is provided, it will be dispensed by one of our authorised partner pharmacies and can be delivered to your home.
Eligibility for any prescription is determined solely by the healthcare practitioner during your consultation. A prescription may be considered where clinically appropriate, based on your individual circumstances and medical history.
An initial consultation with our nurse practitioner is provided at no cost. If a doctor determines that a prescription is appropriate and you choose to proceed, a one-time medical consultation fee of $79 will apply. Consultation fees are only charged if a prescription is provided.
Medicinal cannabis can only be accessed legally in Australia with a valid prescription. At Better Bud, all prescriptions are issued by Australian-registered healthcare practitioners, where clinically appropriate, and are dispensed by licensed Australian pharmacies. Our services are provided in accordance with TGA requirements and Australian regulations.
If a prescription is provided and you choose to proceed, it will be dispensed by one of our authorised partner pharmacies. Medication is sent via express post, with delivery times typically ranging from 1–3 business days depending on your location.
Some prescribed products may result in a positive drug test. If you are subject to workplace or roadside drug testing, it is your responsibility to understand the potential implications and to follow relevant workplace policies and legal requirements. You should seek advice from your employer, HR department, or legal advisor if unsure.
In Australia, it is an offence to drive with any detectable level of THC in your system, even if the THC was prescribed. CBD-only medicines are not subject to this restriction. Patients are responsible for understanding and complying with all road laws. Your prescribing practitioner can provide guidance relevant to your individual prescription.
Medicinal cannabis products are not currently subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) or Medicare. Some private health insurers may provide rebates depending on your level of extras cover. Patients should confirm any potential rebates directly with their health fund.
The price of treatment will depend on the specific product and dosage prescribed. A full breakdown of costs will be provided after your consultation, before you decide whether to proceed with the prescription provided.
